Brazil star Neymar’s right ankle showed no serious injury. The Barcelona star was wonderfully active in Olympic soccer quarterfinals. He played quite a pivotal role in the victory of his team on the way to semis.

Host nation Brazil had finally broken out of an Olympics scoring slump to beat Denmark 4-0. They advance out of the group stages. The Brazilians next played Colombia on Saturday in Sao Paulo and beat them with a 2-0 scorecard.

The Brazil confederation had said exams conducted on the striker’s right foot on Thursday showed no serious injuries. But it was a rather scary scene for Brazilian supporters at the team’s arrival in Sao Paulo with Neymar limping heavily and his ankle wrapped up.

Neymar did not show signs of the injury though in Brazil’s 4-0 win over Denmark on Wednesday. The result kept alive the hosts’ dream of winning the soccer gold medal for the very first time.

He was able to play through the injury but it needed treatment after the match and raised some serious concerns.

Brazil beat Colombia 2-0 in their men’s football quarterfinal at the Corinthians Arena on Saturday. They moved to within a game of the gold medal match at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Neymar, playing despite the ankle sprain, dominated the action fully and was a constant target for Colombia’s defence.
