With thousands of films being churned out by this industry every year, it caters to different kinds of audiences. Some films make you think, while some make you laugh. 1. Udta Punjab
Next in the List of Upcoming Hindi Films is Udta Punjab, set to release on 17 June 2016. This one of the Upcoming Bollywood Movies has created a stir, even before its release, with its sensitive subject matter, i.e. drug abuse. Directed by Abhisek Chaubey, this Thriller has Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh.
2. Luv U Alia
Upcoming Hindi Movies 2016: A Romance directed by Indrajit Lankesh, Luv U Alia is tentatively set to release on 17 June 2016, as well. It has Bhumika Chawla, V. Ravichandran, Sudeep, Sunny Leone, Chandan Kumar and Sangeeta Chauhan in the lead. This film was also shot in Kannada and Telegu languages.
3. Dil Toh Deewana Hai

Set to release on 23 June 2016, Dil Toh Deewana Hai is a light-hearted comedy-romance flick, and is expected to be a fun movie. It is directed by Raja Bundela, and will bring back some yesteryear stars together. Haider Khan, Sadha, Raj Babbar, Zeenat Aman, Sushmita Mukherjee, Alok Nath and Hemant Pandey will star in the film.
4. Raman Raghav
Raman Raghav 2.0 will hit the theatres on 24 June 2016. It is a film belonging to the Crime/Thriller genre, and is directed by Anurag Kashyap. It is based on the life of the late-1960’s serial killer, Raman Raghav, and is one of the most promising Upcoming Bollywood Films, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Vicky Kaushal in the lead.
5. Junooniyat
Also slated to release on 24 June 2016 is Junooniyat, directed by Vivek Agnihotri. This Romance is an intense love story starring Pulkit Samrat, Yami Gautam, Gulshan Devaiah and Hrishita Bhatt. Watch out for its music, which is composed by Ankit Tiwari, Meet bros and Jeet Ganguly.
6. Sultan
The month of July starts with the release of Sultan on 6 July 2016. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, this Indian sports-drama will bring together Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma together for the first time, alongside Randeep Hooda and Amit Sadh, making it one of the most exciting Upcoming Bollywood Films.
7. Happy Bhaag Jayegi
Set to release of 15 July 2016, Happy Bhaag Jayegi is a Comedy flick directed by Mudassar, whose directorial debut, Dulha Mil Gaya, did poorly at the box office. Happy Bhaag Jayegi stars Abhay Deol, Diana Penty, Momal Sheikh, Ali Fazal and Jimmy Sherill, and we are yet to see if this has a different fate.
8. Great Grand Masti
Great Grand Masti, or Masti 3 is the third sequel of the Masti series. This adult Comedy movie is directed by Indra Kumar, with the lead trio of Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani back together, alongside Sonal Chauhan, Sana Khan and Mishti, and is set to release on 22 July.
9. Dishoom
Scheduled to release on 29 July 2016, Dishoom is a movie of the Action genre, and is directed by Rohit Dhawan. Akshaye Khanna will be returning to the big screen after four years with this film, alongside John Abraham, Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Saqib Saleem, Ram Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri.
10. Nonsense
Also set to release on 29 July 2016 is Nonsense, one Latest Hindi Movies in the Comedy genre. It is directed by Sangeeth Sivan, and will bring Sharman Joshi and Zareen Khan together again after Hate Story 3. Vir Das will also be seen playing one of the leading roles in this movie.
11. JD
One of the Hindi Movies 2016 releasing in August is JD, a film of the Thriller-Drama category, slated for a 5 August 2016 release. It is directed by Shailendra Pandey, and is about the life of an Indian journalist. The movie stars Govind Namdev, Aman Verma, Vedita Pratap Singh and Arvind Gaur.
12. Mohenjo Daro
One of the Hindi New Movies which is creating a buzz even before its release is Mohenjo Daro, a Drama slated to release on 12 August 2016. The reasons behind the buzz are Ashutosh Gowariker in the director’s seat, AR Rahman’s music, and Hrithik Roshan in the lead, with Pooja Hegde, Kabir Bedi and Arunoday Singh.
13. Rustom
Another movie scheduled to release on 12 August 2016 is Rustom, a Romanctic Thriller. It is directed by Neeraj Pandey, and has Akshay Kumar, Illeana D’Cruz and Esha Gupta in the leading roles. The film is based on the real experience of Naval Officer KM Nanavati.
14. Banjo
Scheduled to release on 19 August 2016, Banjo is a music Drama which is directed by Ravi Jadhav. In this flick, Riteish Deshmukh will be seen romancing Nargis Fakhri. Riteish plays the role of a Banjo player, while the female lead, played by Nargis, is a Disc Jockey. Fakri’s fans are eagerly awaiting a hit from her.
15. A Flying Jatt

A Flying Jatt is a superhero Action film to be released on 25 August 2016. It is directed by Remo D’Souza, with Tiger Shroff, Jacqueline Fernandez and professional wrestler Nathan Jones will be seen in the lead roles, while Shraddha Kapoor and dancer Salman Yusuff Khan will also make appearances.
16. MS Dhoni: The Untold Story
MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, a sports-biopic based on the life of the current captain of Indian cricket team, MS Dhoni is set to release on 2 Spetember 2016, this Neeraj Pandey directed film will have Sushant Singh Rajput, Ram Charan, Anupam Kher, Fawad Khan, Kiara Advani, John Abraham, Zayed Khan and Manjot Singh.
17. Baar Baar Dekho
Set for a 9 September 2016 release, Baar Baar Dekho is a Romantic Drama, and is the directorial debut venture of Nitya Mehra. With Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra in the lead, the movie’s glamour factor automatically goes through the roof. But will they be able to deliver a hit?
18. Pink
Pink is one of the Upcoming Bollywood Movies, set to release on 16 September 2016. It is directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, and has the legendary Amitabh Bachchan playing the lead as a lawyer. This thriller drama which began shotting on Women’s Day 2016, will also have Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Taring.
19. Akira
Next one on Upcoming Bollywood Movies, Akira is an Action Drama directed by AR Murugadoss, to be released on 23 September 2016. It is a remake of the Tamil film Mouna Guru, and is a women-centric movie with Sonakshi Sinha and Konkona Sen Sharma in the lead roles. Urmila Mahanta and Mithun Chakraborty will also be starring in it.
20. Manmarziyan
Next one on Upcoming Bollywood Movies is Manmarziyan, a Romance flick, is also set to release on 23 September 2016. Directed by Sameer Sharma, it has Ayushmann Khurrana playing the male lead, and Bhumi Pednekar opposite him, while Vicky Kaushal of Masaan fame will play the third lead in this film about a love triangle.
21. Mirzya
Mirzya is a Romantic drama that is scheduled to release on 7 October 2016. It is directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, starring Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher as the leading couple, and Om Puri, Art Malik, K.K. Raina and Anuj Choudhry in major roles. It is set in rural Rajasthan, and you can expect some action-packed sequences.
22. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
One of the biggest releases of 2016 is the star-studded Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, set to release on 28 October 2016. Directed by Romantic Drama king Karan Johar, this film will be starring Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma, Fawad Khan, Imran Abbas, Lisa Haydon. Pritam’s music is another big attraction.
23. Shivaay
Also set to release on 28 October 2016 is Shivaay, an Action Drama directed by Ajay Devgn. In fact, this movie is his second directorial venture since 2008-released U Me Aur Hum, and he himself will star as the male lead, working alongside Sayesha Saigal, Erika Kaar, Ali Kazmi, Jabbz Farooqi, Vir Das and Bijou Thaangjam.
24. Rock On!! 2
November is set to be the month of sequels, with the first being Rock On!! 2, scheduled for a 11 November 2016 release. Directed by Sujaat Saudagar, the film has Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli, Shraddha Kapoor, Prachi Desai and Shahana Goswami reprising their roles from Rock On!!. Shraddha Kapoor and Shashank Arora will also star in it.
25. Tum Bin 2
Tum Bin 2 is the sequel of the 2001 superhit movie, Tum Bin, and is scheduled to release on 18 November 2016. This Romance flick is directed by Nubhav Singa, and will be starring Neha Sharma, Aditya Seal and Ashim Gulati in the lead. Shot entirely in Scotland, it promises amazing cinematography and setting.
26. Kahaani 2
One of the biggest hits of recent times, Kahaani, is set to have its sequel released on 25 November 2016. Kahaani 2 is directed by Sujoy Ghosh, and will feature Vidya Balan and Arjun Rampal in the lead and Jugal Hansraj will playing a pivotal part. Let’s wait and find out if this Thriller will pack the same punch as Kahaani.
27. Wajah Tum Ho

The last month of the year starts with the release of Wajah Tum Ho on 2 December 2016. This erotic Romantic Drama is directed by Vishal Pandya, and will star Sharman Joshi against Sana Khan, with Gurmeet Choudhary playing the 3rd lead.
28. Befikre
The upcoming Hindi Romantic Drama Befikre is set to release on 9 December 2016. It is directed by Aditya Chopra, with Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor featured as the lead pair. The film is set in the beautiful locales of Paris, and will feature the music of Vishal-Sekhar.
29. Dangal
2016 ends with the biggest and the most-awaited one of Upcoming Bollywood Movies of the year, Dangal, a Biopic that’s slated to release on 23 December 2016. Aamir Khan will star as wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, who taught the sport to his daughters Babita Kumari, played by Suhani Bhatnagar (child) and Sanya Malhotra, and Geeta Phogat, played by Zaira Wasim (child) and Fatima Sana Shaikh. Sakshi Tanwar and Rajkummar Rao also play pivotal parts. Aamir Khan’s transformation for the film has already started getting attention.

2. Do Lafzon Ki Kahani
Also scheduled to release on 10 June 2016, next one on Upcoming Bollywood Movies is Do Lafzon Ki Kahani, a Latest Release Hindi Movie of the Romantic genre. It is directed by Deepak Tijori, and will have the unconventional Bollywood hottie Randeep Hooda opposite the beautiful Kajal Aggarwal. This film is based on the Korean film, Always.
3. Te3n
Also to be released on 10 June 2016 is Te3n, one of the Upcoming Bollywood Movies 2016 that everyone is excited about. A Thriller directed by Ribhu Dasgupta, Te3n has Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. It was set for a 20 May release that was postponed to avoid a clash with Sarbjit.
