Future of Neymar still undecided

The Brazilian has a clause in his contract that denotes the financial value of him. It allows the 24-year-old to talk to clubs who assure his £157m price tag.

And his agent, Wagner Ribeiro, claims there are thee clubs. They are reportedly Manchester United , Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

Neymar had moved to Barcelona from Santos in 2013. He has two years remaining on his contract at the Nou Camp.  But there is speculation in Spain that talks over a new deal.

Ribeiro said: “There are three big clubs in the world that want to sign Neymar and pay a clause of €200m to Barcelona.

“I cannot say more than this because it is sensitive. I can only guarantee that Neymar is happy at Barcelona.”

Which poses a certain question. If those clubs are willing to pay the clause and Neymar can speak to them then why hasn’t that chain of events already occurred?

Even the Mirror agrees. The tabloid has furthermore noted Neymar will snub the interest of United, Real Madrid and PSG and “finally sign a new deal in the coming weeks”. At which point they predict the Neymar release clause will be raised to £180m. United would pay that too, if it comes to that.

The Red Devils would do better focusing their attentions on more realistic targets. They can aim players such as Phil Jones, who already plays for them. So that makes things easier for a start. The Mirror says Jose Mourinho has assured the defender that he has a promising future at Old Trafford and can be “like John Terry was for him at Chelsea.
