Neymar has reportedly accepted the wages on offer from the Parisian giant Paris Saint-Germain. He is to join the French team from the beginning of the 2017-18 season, according to Brazilian media.

The report claims the 24-year-old will break off further talks with Barcelona over a renewal. He will play one more season for the club and then leave for Paris.

The report explained that Neymar and his father have been thoroughly convinced that a move to PSG will be sensible. It will be the quickest route to emerge as the best player in the world. Therefore, it continues, his fourth season at Barça will be his last. Apparently, he doesn’t want to continue living in the shadows of teammates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

The Brazilian paper remarks sources have assured that PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi held long talks last week in Ibiza with Wagner Ribeiro, Neymar’s representative himself. In spite of no final agreement being reached, talks are supposedly very advanced.

The contract that PSG have reportedly offered is staggering. It stands at almost 50 million euros per season (40 million euros plus bonuses), which is even more than double the terms being offered in the contract renewal at Barcelona.

PSG know that if Neymar decides to renew with Barça until 2021 (he has a contract until 2018), their opportunities of signing him will diminish. It’s keeping in mind his release clause will certanily go up. However, Barça are not ready right now to sell one of the members of their trident MSN and PSG will have to pay 200 million euros to just sign him even if he does not renew.

However, the prime French club’s plan is for the Brazilian not to renew and finally sign him next summer, when, it’s desperately hoped, with one year left on his deal, Barça would be more prone to negotiation on the price.
