Neymar Met Real Madrid Representatives Twice but said no

As revealed by SPORT earlier this week, Neymar has told his father not to pay attention to any offers which clubs may make for him. But before that occurred, the older Neymar had cautiously maintained meetings with representatives of clubs interested in the FC Barcelona star. And the prominent one of the clubs that has demonstrated an interest is Real Madrid.

Since he signed for Barcelona it’s been publicly known that Neymar had a superior offer from Madrid. More than their rival Catalan side. But he was very clear that when he left Santos, he had only wanted to play for Barça. It was his dream. He was absolutely prepared for the move, whatever the consequences.

But Florentino Perez has never given up his hope of seeing the Brazilian dressed in the white of Madrid. And ‘El Confidencial’ now explain that the in the last few months, the Madrid president has made two brave attempts to sign Neymar. According to the reports, the first was in Madrid back in December. And the second came shortly after, in January.

According to ‘El Confidencial’, Neymar met Real Madrid president Perez and let him know that he would not be interested in signing for Real Madrid.

One of the small problems which could halt Perez’s prior intentions to sign Neymar would be keeping him in the same dressing room as Cristiano Ronaldo, which could really be an issue. In addition to that, Neymar would probably earn practically double what the likes of Sergio Ramos and Gareth Bale are currently being paid.

Neymar has often claimed that he is happy at the Camp Nou, but it was recently revealed that he earns just €99 000 (R16.1 million) a week, which equates to €5.1 million (R83 million) a year – excluding the bonuses.
