Real Madrid demolished Rayo on match day 16 of La Liga. The Rafa Benitez men lost their last fixture against Villarreal letting an easy chance go to raise their position on points charts. The game as planned started with the White camp getting an early lead in 4th minute however disaster occurred when Rayo netted two quick goals in 10th and 12th minute. This led the Santiago Bernabeu fans whistling on their home players and Benitez.  It seemed like the fans are not letting the past memories go much easily as they reacted angrily for Los Blancos’ poor defense. Things changed afterwards as Real Madrid ran riot against the opponents marking the biggest margin win in La Liga since 1960.  Gareth Bale grabbed the first ever four goal haul in La Liga followed by Karim Benzema’s hat-trick and Cristiano Ronaldo’ brace.

Los Blancos’ 10-2 victory last night is their forth 10+ goals victory. The team has done the same against Barcelona, Las Palmas, Elche and now Rayo. The last night’s game was the 300th match for Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos. The skipper spoke to the press after the historic win looking for more of the like performances.

“This was my 300th win and getting another record will push me on to work even harder. Tomorrow I’ll be looking for more,” said Ramos.

“The game wasn’t much of a contest after Rayo had two men sent off, but we have to remember that we still managed to score ten goals and the team now go into the Christmas break eager for more. Rayo are a side that play wonderful football.”

On the supporters, Sergio Ramos added: “We respect everyone’s opinion, they went out to win and took the lead. After going behind, the team knew how to react and we should focus on the positives. Our fans demand the best of us so that we honor the club’s history and badge; however, sometimes things don’t come off as you’d like. We have to keep calm and see what happens at the end of the season.”
